Squarespace Nonprofit Web Design, Strategy & User Research
UWIN, the Urban Wildlife Information Network, is a global network of researchers, ecologists, developers, architects, and policymakers united by a shared commitment to urban wildlife ecology and conservation. The goal was to build a digital presence that could serve a diverse range of stakeholders while communicating the network's mission and impact clearly to both newcomers and established partners.
Stakeholder research was conducted across organizations, roles, and countries to understand what different audiences actually needed from the site. Those insights shaped the site architecture, content strategy, and the clear pathways that guide each visitor — whether they're accessing research, exploring protocols, or looking to get involved.
A content audit and content strategy were also developed to consolidate disparate public-facing resources into a coherent, organized experience. The site was built on Squarespace 7.1 with a component-based design system that empowers the UWIN team to manage and expand content independently. An embeddable interactive map brings the network's global reach to life, making it easy to visualize the scale and diversity of the network at a glance.
